New fiddle pickup from Pick-Up The World

The new material used in this polymer film transducer has three times the output of their previous models. With a tiny sliver of a sensor placed under the bass foot of the bridge and a short wire terminating in a small 1/8" output jack, this is one of the most unobtrusive and elegant systems that I have used. The pickup is so thin there is no apparent dampening of the acoustic sound. The upper left photo shows among other things the damage on the instrument's finish from previous mounting jack systems; gone now is the extra hardware and weight on the fiddle. The bow noise is much less apparent, and the instrument body is less microphonic as a result of the smaller contact patch. The best part is the sound: very balanced, rich, warm yet punchy, extremely feedback resistant, and requiring little in the way of EQ adjustment. David Enke of Pick-Up The World has come up with an elegant, accurate, and powerful solution here. I was first made aware of this Colorado based company from my good friend Lou Roten, who is a dealer for PUTW. You can contact Lou for more information and some great prices at his LNRMusic shop.
